The Third Floor, which brands itself The 3rd Floor, is a coworking space for creatives on the third floor of an antique, tile-clad building in downtown Lisbon, with a focus on design, craftsmanship and sustainability. The former apartment keeps its Portuguese character, from the patterned azulejos on the walls to the tall windows and wooden floors, and is laid out as a lab, three private offices, a room of dedicated desks, hot-desk rooms, a meeting room and a lounge that doubles as the events area, plus a shared kitchen. A hot desk costs €85 for one week, €120 for 15 days or €190 a month, a dedicated desk with a private locker €240 a month, and lockable private offices for two to six people €500–600 a month, all plus VAT. Hot-desk and dedicated-desk members have 24/7 access, weekends included, and every plan comes with high-speed Wi-Fi and cable internet, printing and scanning, utilities, video surveillance, regular cleaning, a business mailing address and meeting-room hours each month. There are no day passes or trial periods: the minimum stay is one week. The space was initiated by the design studio Babled, which works from the first floor of the same building, and has run talks, workshops and film screenings on design and craft.

The Third Floor is on Rua da Madalena in Lisbon's Baixa, opposite the Igreja da Madalena, where the grid of the downtown streets meets the slopes that climb towards the Sé cathedral and the castle hill. Trams 12 and 28 stop within a couple of minutes' walk, Terreiro do Paço metro station on the blue line is about five minutes on foot, and Baixa-Chiado and Rossio stations are around seven. Praça do Comércio and the riverfront are a few minutes' walk south, and MUDE, Lisbon's design and fashion museum, is just around the corner on Rua Augusta. The streets around are full of cafés, traditional restaurants, shops and small museums, among them the Museu de Lisboa – Santo António beside the church of Santo António.
