Werkplek Amsterdam is a small shared office at Batjanstraat 11 in the Indische Buurt in Amsterdam-Oost, where freelancers and creative entrepreneurs each rent their own desk. The current mix is mostly creative: animators, an editor, photographers, digital designers, web developers, strategists, psychologists and product people, which makes it easy to spar about an idea or a design. The office has white vaulted ceilings, arched windows, plenty of plants and a bright, homely feel, with a separate meeting room and a lounge corner. A fixed desk costs €275 a month and includes your own desk and an ergonomic chair, 24/7 access with your own key and alarm code, super-fast fibre internet (1,000 Mbit up and down), free use of the meeting room for clients or presentations, printer and scanner, Lavazza coffee and tea, and good company, including regular drinks. Viewings are arranged by phone or through the contact form; if you only need a meeting or training room for a day, the owners refer you to their sister site for classroom rental.
This workspace is known to host a welcoming and inclusive community.
Experience the personal touch of a coworking space that's locally owned and managed, fostering a unique community spirit.
Batjanstraat 11, 1094 RC, Amsterdam, Netherlands
Batjanstraat lies in the Indische Buurt in Amsterdam-Oost, a lively, multicultural neighbourhood named after the islands of the former Dutch East Indies. The Javastraat and Javaplein nearby are full of cafés, bakeries, restaurants and shops, and the Flevopark, one of the city's quieter green spaces, is a short walk to the east. Trams run along the Javastraat towards the city centre, and Amsterdam Muiderpoort station and the eastern harbour islands are an easy bike ride away.
A monthly desk at Werkplek Amsterdam starts at €275, the operator's published rate for this location. The space does not sell a day pass here, so if you only need a day or two, ask us and we will find the nearest location that does and send you the options.
Mainly creative freelancers and entrepreneurs: animators, an editor, photographers, digital and UX designers, web developers, strategists and psychologists, among others. Collaboration and sparring with other creatives is a big part of the appeal.
Yes. Desk renters can reserve the meeting room for free to receive clients or give a presentation. If you only need a meeting or training room for a day, the owners refer you to their separate classroom-rental site.

Nice, bright location with friendly colleagues. Plenty of peace and quiet to work focused, and often pleasant background music from the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra. Beautiful meeting room that is often available, and separate phone booths so as not to disturb other colleagues with long conversations.
