LORE is a coworking space on a houseboat in Hamburg's City Süd, surrounded by water and aimed at creatives, freelancers and small teams looking for a medium-term base. Its 115 m² hold 14 electrically height-adjustable desks, arranged as two groups of four and three double desks, each with lamp, swivel chair, pedestal and shelf space, and the glass walls let in plenty of air and light. A fixed desk costs €350 a month plus VAT, including internet, a printing allowance and all running costs, with a minimum stay of eight weeks; longer stays are preferred, and there are no flex desks, day passes or event bookings. Tenants use the rooms and equipment 24/7: a soundproof, glass-walled conference room with a large smart TV and wireless presentation, a largely soundproof phone booth that doubles as a power-nap retreat, steel lockers with safe locks, an A3 colour laser printer and scanner, a shredder, and a pantry with hob, dishwasher and French-press coffee. Internet runs at 100 Mbit/s over Wi-Fi and LAN at every desk. The boat is CO2-neutral, with photovoltaics, electric exterior blinds, triple glazing and underfloor heating from a heat pump, and a rowing boat with electric motor and two SUPs are free for everyone to use.

LORE is a special place. And that's not just because it's a floating architect-designer's house, but above all because of the people. Besides the wonderful co-workers, Manni & Martin create this unique atmosphere. They care for the houseboat like their own child. And they radiate a mood and energy of joy, generosity, and humanity. Sitting there feels like you're right on the water. When the sun and shadows cast their patterns on the walls, a wonderful, captivating feeling arises. Indescribable. I would have loved to stay longer than just six months. But Corona thwarted my plans for now. I hope to see you again soon. Anyone looking for an office desk with that certain something extra will find it here.
