Can you imagine an office where you swim at lunch, catch a film in your own movie theater, and still make it back to your desk before the afternoon stand-up? At IDEA Spaces Saldanha, that's not a pitch — it's Tuesday. Spread across 10 floors on Avenida Defensores de Chaves, this 500-desk campus houses 18 themed meeting rooms, private auditoriums, free phone booths, a lounge bar with community happy hours, and an 800 sqm open-air rooftop terrace with a swimming pool in the works. It's the only coworking space in Portugal certified as a Great Place to Work — a distinction earned by the people here as much as the building. Freelancers, startups, and scale-ups all tap into the same perk: one membership unlocks all four IDEA Lisbon locations, 24/7. The iconic 'Resistance' mural sets the tone — this is a space built for those who build things.
4 Avenida Defensores de Chaves, 1000-117, Lisbon, Portugal
IDEA Spaces Saldanha sits on Avenida Defensores de Chaves, roughly three minutes' walk from Saldanha Square — one of Lisbon's key business and transport hubs. Two metro lines converge at Saldanha station (Yellow Line 2 and Red Line 1), placing the rest of the city within easy reach: Marquês de Pombal in two stops, the airport corridor via Oriente in under 20 minutes. Multiple bus routes run directly along Avenida Defensores de Chaves, and taxis and ride-shares are in constant circulation around the square. The surrounding neighbourhood is a dense mix of corporate headquarters, retail banking, restaurants, and cafés — practical for client meetings and lunchtime errands alike. On-site private parking is available in the building for those commuting by car, removing one of the more persistent headaches of working in central Lisbon.

Had a pretty disappointing experience at IDEA coworking. We rented a meeting room for 7 hours, and it was a letdown. The video conferencing gear didn't work, and despite the staff's efforts, the issue remained unresolved. The AC theoretically worked, but by the end of the day, it was impractical – the room got uncomfortably hot. Adding to the frustration, there were only 3 power outlets in an 8-person room, and to make it worse, they were on the wall, not on the table. Seriously? It made staying connected and charged a real challenge. The chairs were a complete joke, resembling something you'd find on a patio rather than in a professional conference room. As you can see in the photo, they were so uncomfortable that sitting in them for even an hour felt impossible, let alone enduring an entire day. To make matters worse, most rooms are in the basement with no windows, creating a stuffy atmosphere. Plus, to top it off, the Wi-Fi isn't secure – not cool. In conclusion, our overall experience was far from satisfactory. EDIT: after one year my company located again this same place. I must say the space itself has improved since my last visit. However, this time, the coffee machine inside the room doesn’t work. When I went to the outdoor area near the café to try using another machine, the owner herself told me I couldn’t use it. She was extremely rude and simply told me to find a staff member instead of trying to help or offer any solution. She just stayed seated, doing her own work, and showed no interest in assisting clients properly. Very disappointed to the price paid.

The staff are really nice. However, there is no quiet zone at all, making it impossible to focus. The office consists only of a large, poorly designed open space, which hampers productivity.

Best coworking in Lisbon! I felt like home since day one thanks to Sara, Zazu and Luis. Community hour with free drinks and snacks, a huge terrace to disconnect… it has everything I need to work. I have tried other coworkings but I always end up coming again and again to Idea Spaces. Definitely a top tier!

Used today and it was a great experience. Excellent facilities, amazing, caring, lovely staff and a good culture. Really enjoyed working there. Keep up the great work. It has an amazing outdoor space with plug sockets. Happy hour on a Thursday too. My only constructive feedback would be the booths could do with a fan when it's this hot. They get hot quick but at least it encourages people to keep moving.
