Purrfect Space at 11 Imperial Arcade is Brighton's first cat co-working space — and the UK's first dedicated cat office — where day-pass members work alongside licensed, welfare-monitored rescue cats in a library-quiet environment. The ground-floor space is intentionally neurodivergent and sensory-friendly: soft lighting, calm zones, and zero social pressure create an atmosphere built for deep focus. Hot and cold drinks, free tea, snacks, high-speed Wi-Fi, phone booths, and a fully furnished lounge area are all on hand, alongside a reception desk and well-proportioned desks with comfortable seating. Beyond coworking, the venue runs a wellbeing event programme — cat yoga, sound baths, breathwork, and art therapy — and houses an in-house retail shop supporting local and independent makers. Several resident cats are adoptable through partner UK charities. Step-free access and an accessible ground-floor bathroom make the space genuinely inclusive. Purrfect Space is independently owned and operated, and particularly well suited to students, freelancers, and anyone who works best in calm, considered surroundings.

11 IMPERIAL ARCADE, BN1 3EA, Brighton, England
Purrfect Space sits inside the Imperial Arcade, a historic Victorian covered arcade in central Brighton — sheltered, characterful, and a world away from the noise of the high street despite being right at its edge. The North Laine quarter, famous for its independent shops, cafés, and restaurants, is just steps away. Brighton train station is a short walk in the other direction, making the space straightforwardly accessible from across the city and from further afield along the Southern Rail network. The surrounding streets offer no shortage of places to grab lunch or continue the day — from specialty coffee spots to independent bakeries and bookshops typical of this part of Brighton. The arcade setting itself adds a quiet, pedestrian-friendly buffer that suits the calm ethos of the space inside.
Yes — Purrfect Space at 11 Imperial Arcade is Brighton's first cat co-working space and is believed to be the first dedicated cat office in the UK. Unlike a traditional cat café, it's a full working environment with desks, Wi-Fi, phone booths, and meeting rooms, where rescue cats live and roam freely alongside members.
Review summary
Across 36 detailed Google reviews, Purrfect Space comes through as a calm, cat-friendly coworking spot tucked into Brighton, where the resident rescued cats are as central to the experience as the work itself. The defining feature, mentioned by nearly every reviewer, is the cats. Members describe falling "absolutely in love" with the rescued residents, who wander freely and seem to ease the working day in a way that is difficult to articulate but impossible to ignore. Woven around this is a consistently praised atmosphere — "very nice and calming," in the words of one member — that sets the tone for genuine focus. The physical space reinforces this: lighting is described as soft rather than harsh, desks are a good size, chairs are comfortable, and the WiFi is reliably quick. Cleanliness is noted repeatedly, and the availability of coffee, tea, and snacks rounds out the day-to-day practicalities without fuss. Where Purrfect Space stands apart most clearly is in its staff. The owner draws repeated, emphatic praise — "an absolute legend" is one phrase that surfaces — and that warmth appears to extend into the broader community, with members mentioning events and opportunities to collaborate. A bookable phone booth adds a layer of utility for calls, and reviewers also highlight the space's accessibility, noting that genuine effort has gone into making it welcoming to all. No negative aspects surface across the reviewed evidence, with every scored dimension drawing purely positive sentiment from members.

Went with colleagues as a group to hack on some software together. We usually work remotely so it's always nice to get able to get together somewhere and collaborate, and Purrfect Space was a really lovely venue. I've been to a few cat cafés and you can tell that the welfare of the cats here is a priority and the cats are genuinely happy and have a space designed to meet their needs. Staff were lovely - the rules might seem strict when you initially read them but it all boils down to using a bit of common sense and treating the cats with respect. If the cats are happy, the staff are happy. Many in our group look after (or have previously looked after 😞) our own cats at home, so it was completely fine. Word of warning, some of the cats like laptops!
