74 West End Lane, London · 4.4 ★ (1787 reviews)
Bohemia House is London's only Czechoslovak restaurant and bar — and it has been holding that title since 1946. Tucked along West Hampstead's high street, this multi-room venue feels less like a coworking spot and more like being welcomed into a family home somewhere between Prague and Bratislava. The kitchen turns out proper svíčková, golden schnitzels, slow-roasted duck, and rich goulash; the taps pour Pilsner Urquell and Budvar Dark on draught. Beyond the bar and beer garden, a cinema screen hosts sports screenings and live Czech and Slovak music nights, while the intimate Mucha Room handles private events and gatherings. A year-round cultural programme — themed food festivals, the traditional Ples ball, cello recitals — keeps the community returning through every season. Dogs are warmly welcomed, and so is anyone curious about Central European culture. With a 4.4 Google rating and a loyal diaspora crowd, Bohemia House is a living piece of London's Czech and Slovak heritage.

Bohemia House sits on West End Lane in West Hampstead, NW6 — one of north-west London's most characterful neighbourhood high streets. The area carries a genuine Central and Eastern European community presence, making this venue a natural local anchor rather than a novelty destination. West Hampstead also has an Overground and Thameslink station nearby, making it one of the better-connected neighbourhood spots in NW London. The surrounding streets are lined with independent cafés, delis, and bookshops that attract a creative, international crowd — the kind of neighbourhood where regulars know each other by name. Kilburn, Fortune Green, and Cricklewood are all within easy reach, and the broader NW6 postcode has long been home to communities from across Europe.

The food was of medium quality, and the prices were a little bit over what you would expect. Service was decent; we were asked how the food was twice: once for the starters and once for the mains. We did, however, struggle a couple of times to find our waiter, and the food was a little bit delayed. 😔 If you consider going there, look on the menu in advance and do not go wild on ordering everything. Just go specifically for a dish you want to experience.

Absolutely outstanding service, food and atmosphere. Pilsner Urquell here a beer with a real kick! Coming back after a lot of years and what an amazing surprise. Having tender roasted knuckle for one opened the door to the paradise. My friend had succulent pork schnitzel like from her mum. Marlenka - typical modern czech honey cake was top. Huge thanks to the team. We will certainly come back.

Had a fantastic night here with friends. The food was wonderful, I've never had Czech food before but on a cold, wet February night it was the best kind of comfort food and hit all the right spots. The food was hearty, tasty and the portions generous. The beer was good too, and there's a decent wine list. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the prices very reasonable. It's definitely somewhere I'll go back to again, especially when the weather is better and the beer garden can be enjoyed. Five of us had 5 starters, 5 mains, 2 desserts, 3 bottles of wine and a round of drinks in the bar and the bill came to £72 each, which I thought very reasonable.

My friends and I originally came here for some Budvar Dark Lager. After a while, we couldn't resist the tempting aroma of the food, so we decided to stay for dinner too. It turned out to be a great choice😍 the food was delicious and worth the price. We ordered several dishes and thoroughly enjoyed everything, so much so that I even forgot to snap a few pictures, lol.
