Machwerk is a social-mission coworking space occupying a historic building at Am Krögel 2 in Berlin Mitte, steps from the Spree river. The 345 sqm venue brings together projects and companies with a social or civic focus, offering day passes, private offices, and meeting rooms across a layout that makes good use of natural light. A backyard courtyard with Wi-Fi extends the working environment outdoors, while a lounge area and phone booths round out the interior. Free coffee is available throughout the day, and regular community events keep the space active beyond standard working hours. Meeting rooms accommodate up to ten people and suit workshops, team sessions, and small conferences. The atmosphere skews collaborative rather than corporate — a deliberate choice reflected in the range of NGOs and social enterprises that form the core of the tenant mix. Trial days are available, giving prospective members a low-commitment way to explore the space before committing to a plan.

Am Krögel 2 c/o, 10179, Berlin, Germany
Machwerk sits at Am Krögel 2 in Berlin Mitte, tucked inside the historic Alte Münze complex — one of the city's most storied courtyard buildings, just a short walk from the Spree riverbank. The immediate surroundings blend institutional Berlin with an increasingly active cultural scene; the nearby Nikolaiviertel and Alexanderplatz are within easy walking distance, offering a wide range of lunch options, cafés, and amenities. The Greens café, referenced by regulars for a quick coffee break, is conveniently close. Alexanderplatz S-Bahn and U-Bahn station provides direct rail and metro connections across the city, making Machwerk accessible from most Berlin neighbourhoods without a long commute. The area is also well served by tram lines running along the Spree corridor. Cyclists will find the riverside paths practical for the morning commute, with the approach along the water offering a notably pleasant start to the workday.

Review summary
Across 49 detailed Google reviews, Machwerk comes through as a warmly atmospheric coworking space in the heart of Berlin, where the physical setting and the people inside it are equally part of the draw. Members return again and again to the atmosphere — described as genuinely "inspirierend" — and to a community that feels less like a loose collection of freelancers and more like a coherent group worth belonging to. The staff and owner receive consistent, unprompted praise, with reviewers describing the team as attentive and genuinely welcoming, which sets the tone for the whole space. The location near central Berlin is a recurring point of appreciation, and meeting rooms earn solid marks from members who have used the space for team workshops and client sessions. Equipment and workstations are described as comfortable, and the outdoor area — with its views toward the Spree — is noted as a welcome bonus. Flexible membership options, competitive pricing, and occasional events round out what members see as a well-considered package, with several noting it represents strong value relative to comparable Berlin options. Honest gaps do surface in the reviews. Phone booths are the clearest pain point: with only two available, members find them almost permanently occupied, making private calls difficult. Wifi draws a small number of complaints alongside its praise, and a handful of reviewers flag that natural light and general space can feel limited at busier times. Food and drink offerings and accessibility also attract the occasional critical note, suggesting room for improvement as the space grows.
