Billroth Büro is a small coworking space in Altona-Altstadt, founded in 2018 by Magdalena Vollmer, in a residential building from 1896 with stucco, tall windows and an open gallery with 4.80 m of headroom. It is made for people who want their own desk and company instead of the home office: a small, stable community of freelancers, employees and PhD students who work independently and quietly, with short calls at the desk and longer ones in the meeting room. Fixed designer desks on the ground floor cost €320 a month, places on the gallery upstairs €350, and a desk shared by two people who each use it two and a half days a week from €199 (all net, plus a €250 deposit and €70 for the key). Everything else is included: high-speed internet, the meeting room for six with flatscreen and whiteboard, lockers, mailbox and door sign, a Wi-Fi printer, a fully equipped kitchen with a Jura coffee machine, Fair Trade coffee and tea, weekly cleaning and sunny outdoor seating. There are no day passes; every new member starts with a trial month. The space is LGBTQIA+ friendly but not barrier-free.
This workspace is small but therefore provides good sense of community.
Work in a vibrant and energizing environment, filled with natural light to boost your mood and productivity.

Billrothstraße 161, 22767, Hamburg, Germany
Billroth Büro is on Billrothstraße in Altona-Altstadt, in quiet side streets a short walk from the centre of Altona. The Gerichtstraße bus stop is about two minutes on foot, and Hamburg-Altona station, with S-Bahn, regional and long-distance trains, about seven; Königstraße S-Bahn station is around ten minutes away. The shops along Große Bergstraße are about five minutes from the door, and the surrounding streets have plenty of places for lunch or a coffee, so a break away from the desk is never far.

Billroth Buro is a truly special coworking space — personal, welcoming, and full of charm. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between professional and cozy, making it easy to stay productive while feeling completely at ease. The community here is one of the highlights: friendly, supportive people create a warm environment. Lena, the owner, is approachable, responsive, and clearly passionate about building a space where people can thrive. Each desk is generously sized, filled with natural light, and surrounded by greenery that adds a calming touch. It’s a thoughtfully designed space that encourages both focus and connection. Whether you’re looking to boost your productivity, meet like-minded professionals, or simply enjoy coming to work each day, Billroth Buro offers all of that, without the sterile, corporate vibe of traditional coworking spaces.

This small, charming co-working space is a real gem. The unique, open-plan architecture is lovingly furnished and creates a truly special atmosphere. The fantastic selection of coworkers makes the office a real place to feel at home. I've been here for a good year now and I still look forward to coming here every time.

Billroth Büro is a special little co-working space in Hamburg-Altona. I had my desk there for a year – the space is beautifully laid out and doesn't give you any impression of a dreary office. Lots of light, plenty of plants, and of course, very friendly co-workers – it's simply a pleasure to go there, and everyone gets what they need in terms of creativity, concentration, and casual chats. The equipment leaves nothing to be desired. Take advantage of the opportunity if there's a space available!
