Officina Kreuzberg – coworking colectivo junto a la Hasenheide

I had a flex-table at Officina for a short time and canceled my table for reasons unrelated to Officina. I enjoyed my time there and even stay in contact with some of the people I met there. I like that it is organized and operated collectively by the people there rather than being part of a large company. I still stop by to say hello or when there is some type of event.

I joined Officina in February 2025 and stayed for one year. I initially had a positive experience: the community is friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is open and informal. One of the main reasons I chose the space was that I was able to move my own desk and office equipment into the space, and the space offered personal use for meetings or private events. In practice, neither of these aspects worked out for me as expected. I had planned to host my birthday party in the space, but had to cancel it at short notice due to unclear and inconsistent communication about what size parties were permitted. Separately, during an event that took place while I was absent for several weeks, my desk and personal belongings were moved. In the process, part of my desk came undone, and some of my belongings were dispersed throughout the space. When I returned, I discovered the dismantled desk and missing items and had to spend several hours getting tools and screws, repairing the desk, and searching the space for my belongings. I raised the issue in the Slack channel. While some members offered to use their desk or suggestions, the persons who had moved my desk did not contact me, apologize, or offer assistance. When I pointed out that I would have at least liked to be informed, I was messaged that I would have been informed, but that the persons involved had been too busy. While things can get broken or lost, I felt very uncomfortable with the lack of communication and repair. No-one approached me, offering an explanation or help to retrieve my belongings. I eventually found everything but one item after asking around. Not even knowing whom to hold responsible poisoned the atmosphere for me and made me feel uncomfortable there. When I asked to leave the space, feeling uncomfortable there, I was asked to continue paying another month after my departure. If you chose the space, make sure you reserve yourself the same right that the space reserves for itself to leave after a 30-day notice if your belongings get broken or the environment turns unpleasant.

I’m part of Officina since around 4 years and I enjoy being here a lot. We organize together as a collective. For me it’s not just having a desk to work at, but also a space where we have events together and hang out as friends. There is lots of room to bring your own ideas.
