W-tec Workspace is the coworking floor of Technologiezentrum Wuppertal, the city's technology and founder centre. Desks sit under white roof beams on the top floor of Haus 5, with windows along the walls and a long view over the surrounding hills — the building stands on the highest point in Wuppertal. Places come fully furnished, and the rate covers fibre broadband, a WiFi printer, office supplies and lockable storage. The Kreativraum is part of the workspace and doubles as a meeting room and a quiet spot for undisturbed calls; it holds a whiteboard, a flipchart, moderation cards and a beamer table, and was set up together with InnoNet BL e.V. and Bergische Universität Wuppertal. A shared kitchen with fridge, hob and microwave sits on the same floor, and the foyer is where people take a break or have breakfast together. W-tec aims the floor at founders, students and anyone who wants a quiet desk with some company, and pairs it with free start-up coaching, seminars and monthly member get-togethers.

The W-tec site sits at Lichtscheid, in the south of Wuppertal-Barmen, on the ridge that divides the Wupper valley from the open Bergisches Land. It is a mixed quarter: a technology park and light industry along Heinz-Fangman-Straße, then detached houses, allotments and fields within a few streets. The horizon is unusually wide for Wuppertal, because this is the highest point in the city, and the water tower on the corner is the local landmark. Lunch is close by — a bistro and a fish restaurant operate inside the W-tec buildings themselves, and Obere Lichtenplatzer Straße, a few minutes downhill, adds a bakery, a couple of restaurants and a burger chain. Buses from Lichtscheid Wasserturm link the site to Barmen and Elberfeld; the Schwebebahn runs down in the valley, roughly three kilometres away, so most people arrive by bus or by car. Getting around on foot is easy but hilly: nearly every route off the ridge goes down and then back up.
The workspace occupies the top floor of Haus 5 in the W-tec technology park at Heinz-Fangman-Straße 4. Report to the Haus 5 reception on arrival — the team there registers new members and handles post, deliveries and room bookings. Free customer parking is available on the site. Coming by bus, get off at Lichtscheid Wasserturm; the stop is about 150 metres from the entrance, a two-minute walk.
A day at a desk costs €7.50 plus 19 % VAT. On top of that W-tec charges a monthly base fee of €9.50 plus VAT and then bills the days you actually used. A week costs €30.00 plus VAT, students pay €16.81 plus VAT (€20.00 gross), and a full month costs €106.25 plus VAT, billed in advance.

I loved the property. The offices are well maintained. However, the reason behind my post wonderful experience in interaction with staff. Ms. LK took every possible step, even walking two steps beyond the defined duties to help me out with my move-in and move-out.
