Unioninkatu 27, 00170, Helsinki, Finland
Sofia Helsinki sits in Torikortteli — Helsinki's Market Quarter — immediately beside Senate Square and within sight of Helsinki Cathedral, placing it among the most architecturally storied streets in the country. The surrounding area is dense with heritage façades, independent restaurants, and seasonal outdoor terraces, including one overlooking the square itself. The nearest transit stop is University of Helsinki, connecting the area to trams and the broader city network within a short walk. Market Square (Kauppatori) and the South Harbour are reachable on foot in minutes, making the location convenient for arrivals by ferry or for midday errands. Aleksanterinkatu — Helsinki's main shopping street — runs directly adjacent, flanked by everything from local lunch spots to bookshops. Senate Square's open expanse also makes the walk to and from transit genuinely pleasant year-round, regardless of the season.
Located at the intersection of Sofiankatu 4 C, Aleksanterinkatu 28, and Unioninkatu 27 in Helsinki's historic city centre, adjacent to Senate Square. Review summary
Across 36 detailed Google reviews, Sofia Helsinki emerges as a lively yet relaxed coworking space occupying a well-positioned address near Senate Square in the heart of the city. Food and drink dominate member feedback more than any other aspect, with reviewers returning again and again to praise the quality of what is on offer, summing it up simply as "great food" — a distinction that sets the daily experience apart from more utilitarian workspaces. The staff earn consistent appreciation too, described by multiple members as "incredibly hospitable," and the overall atmosphere — characterised as lively and relaxed in equal measure — underpins a working environment that members genuinely seem to enjoy spending time in. The central location near Senate Square is singled out as a practical advantage, making it easy to reach and well-connected to the wider city. Beyond the day-to-day, the venue functions as an event space, with members noting it as a strong party and gathering venue. Pricing is considered fair and honest, and the physical space draws praise for its beauty, with peaceful workspaces and meeting capacity — including an upstairs office accommodating around ten people — rounding out the practical offer. Members also mention lockers, private rooms, a kitchen, and a sauna among the available amenities. Where members do offer reservations, these touch on food and drink consistency, certain aspects of the event programme, and occasional concerns around the space and staff experience — suggesting that, while the highs are notable, execution is not uniformly consistent across every visit.
Members most consistently praise Coffee & food, Staff & service, and Atmosphere. The most-raised point to know about is Coffee & food.

My wife and I stopped by Sofia for a glass of wine and a few bites. It turned out to be one of the best times we had in Helsinki. The wine by glass selection is very good and the bar food was great especially the eggplant starter. But what really made it a treat is meeting Mikko who is either the manager or owner, I am still not sure. He was incredibly hospitable and we spent lots of time exchanging info and recommendations about wine where he is very knowledgeable. Mikko made our one hour stop at Sofia's bar one of the highlights of our Helsinki trip. A very fun time and thank you, Mikko.

Our first stop upon arriving in Helsinki. A very warm and friendly welcome. The place is beautiful. We ate well, although the desserts were a bit of a letdown. We recommend it.
