Second Home Mercado sits on the first floor of Lisbon's iconic Mercado de Ribeira — better known as the Time Out Market — turning one of the city's most storied buildings into a genuinely design-led workspace. Conceived by Spanish architecture practice Selgas Cano and part of the internationally acclaimed Second Home brand, the space is filled with natural light, over a thousand living plants, and an eclectic collection of mid-century furniture that makes every desk feel considered rather than corporate. The community here leans toward freelancers, local startups, and creative professionals who actually put down roots in Lisbon — not a transient drop-in crowd. Members get access to meeting rooms, a reception desk, free coffee, event spaces, and high-speed Wi-Fi, all steps from the Tagus riverfront. On Fridays, happy hour and live music turn the workday into something worth staying for. Step-free access and a lift make the space fully accessible.
1o Avenida 24 de Julho, 1200-479, Lisbon, Portugal
Second Home Mercado occupies the first floor of Mercado de Ribeira, right on Avenida 24 de Julho in Lisbon's riverside Cais do Sodré district. The building sits at a genuine crossroads of the city: the Tagus riverfront and its broad esplanade are immediately adjacent, while the neighbourhood's bars, restaurants, and cultural landmarks fill the surrounding streets. Cais do Sodré metro station (Green and Blue lines) is a two-minute walk, and tram 15E — connecting Belém and the wider waterfront — stops directly outside. Multiple bus lines converge here too, making every corner of Lisbon easy to reach. The famous Pink Street (Rua Nova do Carvalho), known for Lisbon's most concentrated nightlife strip, is just around the corner — handy context for after-work plans. Santos and Chiado are both walkable, giving members a full spread of lunch spots, cafés, and cultural venues within easy reach.
Located on the first floor (1º andar) of Mercado de Ribeira, Avenida 24 de Julho 1, 1200-479 Lisbon. Enter via the main market building entrance and proceed to the upper floor. The venue is accessible by lift. Well served by public transport — the Cais do Sodré metro station (Green and Blue lines), tram 15E, and multiple bus lines are within walking distance. Street parking is available nearby along Avenida 24 de Julho, though spaces can be limited.

Loved working at Second Home during my time in Lisbon. Super unique and cool work space full of great people. If you're a digital nomad, great place to meet friends and find things to do. And can't speak highly enough about the staff, everyone is absolutely wonderful. They take great care of you, more than worth the price to be a member.

Great place to get traditional Portuguese food. Prices are good, 12 to 16 €. Fast service. Had a great meal for 12.50 €.

Great place, full of people. Excellent staff. The chairs and desks are a bit old, but overall it’s a good environment for work.

Such a beautiful place for working. I was invited by friends so i did not actually work there. But the spaces were very nice. Fridays they have music and happy hour for members.

After visiting many coworking spaces in Lisbon and around this world, Second Home fits me perfectly. I was looking for a work space that isn’t a bunch of digital nomads temporarily staying in Lisbon. I find value in expanding my professional network and the community here has members that are serious about their work. At other spaces, you get the cliche “I’m a freelance copy writer” but in reality they are just in Lisbon to surf and party. At Second Home, you will form genuine connections. The staff at Second Home is amazing as forming connections with members to help their business thrive. A coworking place should be much more than a table and chair for your laptop. The value is the community and culture. The cafe at Second Home is second to none with healthy food options that is affordable and delicious. Each person of the Second Home team comes into the office every morning asking “how can I help everyone thrive?” Of course, the office design itself is inspirational with a focus on nature. Not your typical coworking space. If you’re a serious entrepreneur needing a space that helps you learn, be productive, and find inspiration, I highly recommend Second Home.
