Tucked into a storied townhouse on Calle León, Gato Azul Coliving & Coworking is the kind of place that's easy to arrive at and hard to leave. The historic building has been thoughtfully kept — carved dressers, a sun-warmed rooftop deck, a back garden, and quiet nooks that feel genuinely lived-in rather than designed. Coworking and coliving share the same roof, so the commute from bedroom to desk is a matter of steps, not minutes. High-speed Wi-Fi and 24/7 access mean digital nomads across every time zone can work on their own rhythm, while community events and a shared kitchen keep the social side alive. With beds for up to 20 guests, the atmosphere is warm and small enough that housemates become friends — sometimes quickly. For anyone treating Tenerife as a workation base, Gato Azul sits right in the centre of La Orotava, with Mount Teide's cycling and hiking routes practically at the door.
Enjoy the flexibility of a workspace that's open around the clock, catering to your unique work schedule.

41 Calle León, 38300, Tenerife, Spain
La Orotava is a scenic historic town in the highlands of northern Tenerife, known for its beautifully preserved colonial architecture, cobblestone streets, and lush valleys. At the foot of Mount Teide — a UNESCO World Heritage site — it serves as an exceptional base for cycling the Teide ascent, hiking volcanic trails, and exploring the island's north coast. The nearest transit stop is San Juan, keeping connections to Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Puerto de la Cruz straightforward. Day trips to the Botanical Gardens, the Orotava Valley viewpoints, and Tenerife's Atlantic beaches are all within easy reach. The town itself rewards slow mornings: local bakeries, traditional Canarian restaurants, and a peaceful central plaza offer the kind of unhurried pace that makes a long stay feel natural rather than restless.
Located at Calle León 41, 38300 La Orotava, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The space operates 24/7, so access is available at any hour. Contact the team in advance to arrange check-in details, especially for late arrivals. Gato Azul combines coliving and coworking under one roof in a characterful historic townhouse — you live, work, and socialise in the same building without ever needing to commute. The space hosts up to 20 guests, keeping the community small and genuinely connective rather than anonymous.
Review summary
Reviewers are divided on Gato Azul. Those who praise it highlight the stunning 300-year-old renovated house in La Orotava, its charming garden with citrus trees, rooftop terrace with views toward the coast and Teide, fast Wi-Fi, two well-equipped kitchens, and a welcoming community atmosphere. Critical reviews — several from early 2023 — raise recurring concerns about noise from thin walls and full occupancy, limited coworking and relaxation space, cold rooms in winter, and a price-to-value ratio that some find unfavourable compared to alternatives. Later reviews from 2025–2026 suggest the experience improved, with guests describing it as a genuine home from home.
Members most consistently praise Light & space, Atmosphere, and Staff & service. The most-raised point to know about is Value for money.

Gato Azul is a truly living, long-standing home! I spent 2 weeks there (far too short!). The place feels warm and homely. Wherever you look, you stumble upon little rays of beauty — in the crooked barrel on the porch, the carved dresser, the checkered tiles. You can relax in the garden, catch the sun with a coffee on the rooftop, stay up late talking with wonderful ppl. And La Orotava itself is one of the most beautiful towns on the island. After a full day of hiking, you can wander through charming streets without the overwhelming tourist noise. Beyond the beauty, there’s also a comfortable workspace, excellent organization, and Sonja, who took care of us, is incredibly helpful. I truly hope to visit Gato Azul again!

Tricky in winter. Town can be wet and chilly. The windows on my room were ANCIENT: simple wood, single pane glass, with a >1cm open gap =all cold air & street noise comes in. Thermometer read 15°C inside. Common areas also chilly and damp, which hurts the vibe. I'm sure the place is much better from Apr to Nov. This was Jan 2026. Hopefully they fix the windows before next winter.
