Waiting 5 weeks for an appointment, then waiting 15 minutes for an appointment that only lasts 1 minute. These ladies and gentlemen, however, go to get coffee five times during that wait. It's a disgrace. No big city requires appointments. But our wonderful Citizens' Office requires online appointments so that people don't overwork and can drink enough coffee.

I also have to distance myself from the bad opinions.

The ladies there were/are always friendly to me and really tried hard. Kindness and respect are a two-way street...

Don't forget, we all have our own baggage to carry...

Yes, the Citizen's Office used to be extremely rude and, at times, truly incompetent.

But I have to say that things have definitely changed. It's no longer "I don't know," but rather they genuinely try to help and are even super nice! Thank you for that!

3 stars because, unfortunately, I still don't think much of the registry office. The negative feeling persists. The issue with the emails remains (see attached photo). And I find Mr. W. Meier absolutely terrible. You can hardly convey a more "I don't care, leave me alone" attitude...

And, of course, the limited opening hours.

The ladies aren't exactly cooperative. The daughter of a good friend wanted to deregister. Since her parents are emigrating, she's doing a dual study program and can never stay in one place for more than three months.

There's no obligation to register there. The nice clerk didn't accept this, so the daughter couldn't deregister, and because Fame is so nice, she wrote to the local council.

They have now sent the daughter a fine, which is ironic since the law doesn't require registration precisely because of this dual study program.

Yes, ladies, those who can read have a clear advantage and are less likely to embarrass themselves.

I can't understand the recent reviews here at all. When I recently applied for my ID card at the Citizens' Office, I received a friendly welcome and everything went smoothly.

Unfortunately, I was shocked to see the kind of tone many citizens adopt. So, it doesn't surprise me that a "snarky" response can sometimes come back. You can tell that the ladies at the Citizens' Office have a lot of appointments to handle and are certainly understaffed for this amount of work. If you speak to the staff normally and ask questions, you get a little insight, and that confirmed my suspicion of understaffing. The responsibility here lies with the superiors or the mayor himself to ensure an adequate number of staff.

What annoyed me during my visit was, as I said, the tone and expectations of the citizens. Some questions were asked that had absolutely nothing to do with the Citizens' Office, but rather concerned other administrative offices (district office, etc.), and you end up making a fool of yourself when you're referred to them.

Reading Ms. W.'s last review, this is very likely one of those cases. The Citizens' Office isn't responsible for such vehicle-related matters, and if you're referred to Lörrach, you go there and don't make it a "what if...". Unfortunately, not everyone in the world has been blessed with intelligence. Those who aren't seem to be coming to the Citizens' Office more often or reporting there, see Ms. Claudia Wenk.

Personally, I can only express my respect for the ladies at the Citizens' Office: you're doing a great job, don't let so many idiotic citizens get you down!
