Za/Pa is a shared working and maker space on the top floor of a warehouse-type building in Poblenou, inside Barcelona's 22@ innovation district. The 200 m² open plan is shared by a small group of companies from the creative industries: its members have included architects, urban planners, city-data analysts and digital makers, and it has served as an academic research studio for the IAAC, the AA Visiting School and Elisava. The warehouse conversion by the architecture studio Appareil has been featured in Dezeen, ArchDaily and Wallpaper. Work happens at large tables for three to five people each, with plywood shelving along the walls; the studio fits up to 20 people in four or five groups and has a meeting table, a kitchen, a bathroom with shower and an outdoor area. Wi-Fi, air conditioning and heating, lockers, cleaning, a library, a model-making workshop, a balcony, concierge and A4/A3 printers (with conditions) are part of the services, and plants fill the space. A desk for one costs €220 a month, two desks €360 and a whole table for four €550, all plus VAT. The studio is also rented out for one-off events.
