The Collection Chapter No. 1 is a converted warehouse at Looiersgracht 43 in the Jordaan, on the tree-lined Looiersgracht between the Prinsengracht and the Lijnbaansgracht. In 1899 entrepreneur Cornelis Hellingman bought the plot, a former liquorice works of the Klene sugar refinery lost to fire, and had carpenter-architect Jan Lenderink build new warehouses and a factory; a third, top floor was added in the second half of the 20th century. Today the building offers 980 sqm of generous open-plan office space with high ceilings and windows onto a secluded back garden.
