officebarn is a small coworking space in a converted barn in Groß-Barop, in the south-west of Dortmund. The building, the former 'Kloster' at Baroper Straße 244, was first recorded around 1477 as property of Dortmund's Dominican monastery; it was converted into an office in 1994, used by an architecture practice until 2022 and has been a coworking space since 2024. The old outer walls were kept, repaired or whitewashed, and a few special elements sit next to them: a gallery with olive-wood parquet and a veneered balustrade, and a glazed gate with louvre windows behind a wooden sliding door. The mood is quiet, relaxed and familiar. The Flex option at communal tables, sitting or standing, costs €220 a month and the Fix option with your own height-adjustable desk, monitor, dock and keyboard €300 a month (net of VAT), both with 24/7 access; your own private office is available on request. Your own key to the office, Wi-Fi or a wired network, a kitchenette with kettle, microwave, stove, dishwasher and coffee machine, a meeting room by arrangement and bike parking are included, and other contract types are possible on request.
