La Manual is a 200 m² street-level coworking at Calle de Zurita 43 in Lavapiés, central Madrid, run since 2012 by a community of independent professionals and creatives from different disciplines. The bright, homely space has hot desks, fixed desks for computer work and larger desks with storage for hands-on creative work, plus a kitchen and dining area and a phone booth; the atmosphere is calm, with respectful silence rather than café noise. Fixed desks cost from €250 a month including IVA and come with your own 150 × 75 cm desk, a drawer unit, an ergonomic chair, the option to leave a computer or monitor and 24/7 access. Flexible desks cost from €130 a month including IVA, with access from 9:00 to 19:00 on working days, no assigned desk and no minimum stay. A day pass costs €22 and a half-day pass (4 hours) €15, both including IVA, with fast, reliable internet. The community organises events such as wine tastings, book and plant swaps and pincho contests.
